What does Sign PDF do?

Sign PDF is a free online tool that can stamp a text signature on the last page of a PDF. The PDF result from Sign PDF is a separate copy to inspect before you use it elsewhere. One possible use is internal drafts marked with a reviewer name.

The signature tool adds typed text near the bottom-right corner of the final PDF page. It offers a visible acknowledgment mark for a draft or internal file.

The default wording is Signed, which you can replace with the text you intend to show. This tool renders the pages and annotates the final page.

It does not create a certificate, timestamp authority record or cryptographic signature check trail. A name typed on a page can be copied like any other visible text.

It does not prove who entered it. Check whether the receiving party accepts this kind of mark.

Dates or titles must be part of the wording you enter. Keep a record of the review outside this file.

For visible sign-off text placed on an informational file, choose a copy whose source content suits that purpose. Keep a local source for another trial.

Add signature text to a PDF online: steps

Before using Sign PDF, decide what the new copy must contain and where it will be used. Enter the exact visible wording and check there is usable space at the bottom-right of the final page. Review the upload area and all values required by the current Sign PDF form.

  1. Choose the source

Check the agreed wording before marking an internal draft. For Sign PDF, choose one source from your device. Keep a source copy for another attempt.

  2. Review the form values

Signature text controls a value used by Sign PDF. The starting Signature text value is Signed.

  3. Run the file task

Use Process Sign PDF after checking the source and form values. Wait for the job to finish. An error means this attempt failed.

  4. Save and check the output

Check the last page for placement, spelling and readability, then check the rest of the rendered file. Store the output on your device. Name this copy separately from the original.

Typed signature: uses for Sign PDF

Sign PDF can help with demonstration files carrying an acknowledgment. It can also be used for non-critical copies labeled after manual review. The PDF result from Sign PDF must suit the intended reading or editing step, so keep the source until that check is complete.

  • Internal drafts marked with a reviewer name.
  • Demonstration files carrying an acknowledgment.
  • Non-critical copies labeled after manual review.
  • Visible sign-off text placed on an informational file.

Formats and limits for Sign PDF

The Sign PDF form accepts PDF sources. Each Sign PDF upload can be up to 300 MB, which equals 300 MiB. The allowed suffixes on the Sign PDF page do not prove that a source has valid content inside it.

A typed visible signature is not a certified digital signature. Legal acceptance depends on your situation and cannot be certain by this tool.

How this tool works

Sign PDF uses qpdf and ImageMagick and Poppler to handle the source on the server. The Sign PDF request uses your chosen input rather than any local editing project left on your device. Check the PDF contents produced by Sign PDF before treating them as ready for another app or reader.

For Sign PDF, your browser uploads the source to our file-processing server. This is a server task, not local editing.

Files are due for deletion within 1 hour. Cleanup runs during normal service operation. Keep a local download for future use.
